Voice from the past, Dave. Glad to see that you are doing well at what you love. I googled you after seeing a girl named Nealon running for Bishop Ireton. Your daughter?
Your new song, Hint of Light, is absolutely fantastic. I love the guitar. And the voice. It was amazing.
Enjoying your songs Dave! Thanks for sharing them. :-)
The music is beautiful, the singing of the words matched so well with the picking of the string, it was a bit hard for me to hear the message of the song. Otherwise, Dave it was nicely done.
Hey ! How do I "fan" your site on my fb page ? I'd love to add a link to here so folks can hear your wonderful gift !
Why didn't I know about this? Cool site! Thanks for sharing your gifts at the picnic. For me you and Joel brought out that ol' Folk Group magic.
Listening to your stuff with Heidi and many other family members around. You are a talent and a treasure.
Hi Dave, what an wonderful website. Your music is awesome. You are blessing to our church family. We definitely need to get a CD or two or three and join one of your evening gatherings. Will look forward to it. Thanks for blessing us with your musical talent!
Hi- When I was a Quaker we practiced the traditional unprogrammed worship by waiting on the Holy Spirit to lead our time together. As a musician, it felt a bit odd at times to worship where there was no planned music, and to have a place to be able to wait for the noise in my head to quiet. You are right that music can add to the noise, but it can also add to the quiet or help transition into calmness -depending on the setting. The sense of overexposure you mention comes to me when I get ambushed by someone else's music like when a TV commercial comes on, or someone is playing loud music in their car. Sometimes I use music to set my mood, sometimes I seek silence. Freedom to choose is a great thing in music (especially when I can choose a Dave Nealon song...)
Tonight, Beth and I played for 15 minutes for about 10 four year olds. We got em riled up, jumping and clapping, and then we invited them to wind down, relax, and soothe their minds. That doesn't prove that "music hath charms to soothe the savage breast", [William Congreve, The Mourning Bride, Act 1, Scene 1], but it can be effective.
In some ways, I think that music is overdone in our lives. There's too much of it. We need more silence. But for me it's also one of the best ways to communicate certain things.
What do you think? How do you use music effectively? Do you ever feel overexposed to it?
What a way to start a Monday morning!! I came in early and turned up the Dave songs and now I am ready to take on the day!
Your awesome!

I heard about the website through our H.S. alumni publication. Great work, Dave! Glad to hear you're still doin' it.
Who'd have thunk it back in 1st or even 12th grade! Keep on singing, Dave!

Here's a great new verse to "The Revolution's Over" sent in by old buddy Mack Arrington, a fine multi-instrumentalist and life coach. (www.mackarrington.com)
Keepin' the customer satisfied
I wish I was homeward bound
Plugged into virtual reality
Sounds of silence can't be found, found
Sounds of silence can't be found.
Did you catch all three song references? All by the same artists!
Here's a challenge for you!
I've written a new song--sort of goofy, of course--below. You can do two things:
1. Identify one of the songs (or TV commercials) hinted at.
2. Write your own verse and submit it here.

The Revolution's Over
Copyright 2007 Dave Nealon
The revolution's over now. Lay down my old guitar.
The Rolling Stones couldn't get no satisfaction so they're hawking credit cards, cards.
They're hawking credit cards.
The revolution's over now but we're still 8 miles high.
Imagine more possessions now. It's easy if you buy, buy.
It's easy if you buy.
Oh deep in my heart, I do believe down by the riverside.
You say you want a revolution in your heart this time, time.
In your heart this time.
The culture war is long since won, but who knows at what cost?
And while we're toasting our champagne I wonder what's been lost, lost.
I wonder what's been lost.
The revolution's over now. Can't you read the signs?
The generation lost in space kinda wasted my precious time, time.
Kinda wasted my precious time.
Oh deep in my heart, I do believe down by the riverside.
You say you want a revolution in your heart this time, time.
In your heart this time.
The revolution's over now. Almost cut my hair.
The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind but Dylan's selling underwear, wear
Dylan's selling underwear.
Gadzooks! You're famous!
Hey! You! Yeah, you! The reporter guy! Get over here! I wanna introduce you to a real star!
Harold, yes. I've got about 15 new songs that I want to record. I'm playing them out and about for a few months to see how folks like them. Then I'll start recording. So sometime in 2007. (A few of these are in the "Unreleased" section of the Music page. Preliminary recordings, anyway.) Thanks for asking. See you at the next Mennofolk.
Just found your website. Thanks for coming to Mennofolk. Really like your music. Any CD recordings in the works? Harold
Leslie and Bill, thanks for the feedback on Strangest Dream. I just now made the whole song available. Maybe it will make more sense. Tiananmen Square did pass through my head when I was writing that last verse: when the tanks rolled. But this is song has a lot of influences, and maybe some different speakers, so "I" and "you" might not be constants. I was also thinking of people whose health conditions make them unable to communicate.
Dave, We like the lyrics of Strangest Dream. What is the story behind this song? We wonder if it is the Dali Lama? Is it Tiananmen Square? a minute and a half of the song sounded great!
Hey there Dave! I was looking around in your website and thought that I'd say Hi! Your page is very informative! I hope that Bill and I can make it to some of your events:-)
We love playing/singing with you at church! You are a very talented musician and God has blessed you with this great talent!
Joe, Yes, I'll bet it's the same Tom Arrowsmith. He taught me techniques that I thought were far beyond my ability. He really encouraged me to challenge myself. A good teacher--and what a musician! Tom, are you out there? Still playing?
I wonder if you know the same Tom Arrowsmith I know from Marshall HS in Falls Church ?
Great music and fantastic photos.
Best music since John Prine! Great music and great website - hope you and the family had a great holiday. Jim
Great website - I'm so happy to see it! I bought copies of your first CD for Paul, Margot, and Adam for Christmas, plus two extra for Bev and Marilou. CD Baby loves me! Next I'll buy them your second CD.
Hope you and yours have had days that were merry and bright. May the new year bring much musical inspiration.
Karol
Hugh,
Yes, the song list for our new CD, Something You Already Know, is on this site on the News page. You'll also find it, plus samples of each song, at http://cdbaby.com/cd/casestudies
Thanks for asking!
Mark piqued my interest (thanks for the email Mark!) Got a playlist for the Something You Already Know CD?
Great website, Dave! I let a lot of folks know--hope they take a look and listen. Thanks for your kind words about my songs. See you soon.
Davey-boy! What a neat looking site! And to think...I knew you when! Can't wait to hear some stuff, but will have to download at work...still have snail-pace dial-up here in my neck of the woods.
Smiley
Uncle Dave,
This is Awesome!
Ryan
Dave,
You are my musical hero! Keep up the good music.
Bob
Dave, keep up the great work! Can't wait to hear you play some time.
Thanks for your comments, everyone!
Several folks asked about the site design. It's a template from hostbaby.com, which is a spinoff of cdbaby.com. I can't take any credit, but I hope it's easy to navigate.
By the way, that's an adult light phase red-tailed hawk. In Virginia and North Carolina, at least, you'll see them every mile or so along the highway, but I never get tired of them.
Hey Dave,
I love your website and your music! And now I know why my water never boils. :-) Merry Christmas!
Anna
Hi Dave,
always good to hear from you - keep on keeping on! Regards to your family and Happy Holidays.

Hey Dave,
Looks great! To add to erndog's comments, what did you use to design the page?
Hope you, Beth, and the girls have a great holiday!
Looks great Dave! Cool hawk. In the past two weeks I have had two buzz me while walking and jogging. Now they scare me. How did you do your page. It really looks neat and clean.
Dave - it's good to hear from you again. Keep it up with the music. I hope you and your family have a peace-filled and joyous holiday!
Hi, dear Dave!
I never doubt that you are a talented musician! Friedrich Nietzsche once said that "without music, life would be a mistake." As my experience showed that music can heal the soul and help create inner peace and harmony. I feel proud of you and all I have to do is listen!
Thank you!
Hong
I can't imagine why you omitted the world's greatest rock and roll band from your bio. That would be the "17th Street Electric Gospel Band", of course. Looks great, old friend. God rest ye merry this Christmas. Also send my best to all those beautiful women you live with.
Really nice site! It gives me the chance to tell people that my family is in show business! Congratulations!
Who put this website together and what have you done with Dave Nealon? This is really good, buddy, way to go!
I love your website! It looks great, it's easy to use, and I think that it is really cool that we can listen to your music online! Great job with it!
I hope that You have Merry Christmas Dave! I'll keep practicing over the break. :)
In Him,
~Jessie .><>.
Golly, Pop! You sure did put together a swell website!
Love,
Finfer
